Is this Evri text a scam? (UK)

Updated October 16, 2026 · 5 min read

Texts and emails claiming a parcel from Evri couldn’t be delivered, and asking for a fee, are a frequent scam. Evri says it would never request payment from customers by SMS or email, so any payment request is a red flag. Here is how to check a parcel safely and where to report the message.

The short answer

Evri says it would never ask customers for payment by text or email. A message that asks you to pay through a link is a scam. Check any parcel through Evri’s own website or app. We can’t see your message, so no page can tell you for certain. If you’re unsure, don’t use the link: go to the company’s own app or website, or call a number you already trust.

What Evri says about fakes

  • Evri says it would never request payment from customers by SMS or email.
  • Scammers use “Please reply Y” so the recipient “accepts” the sender and the link becomes tappable.
  • Genuine Evri emails typically come from @evri.com, @hermes-europe.co.uk or @myhermes.co.uk.
  • If you’re unsure about a parcel, check its status on Evri’s website or app, not through the link.

What to do now

  1. Don’t reply, even to say Y, and don’t click the link.
  2. Forward the text to 7726 (free) and forward suspicious emails to report@phishing.gov.uk.
  3. Report it to Evri through its cyber-security page at evri.com/cyber-security.
  4. Check any real parcel on evri.com using your tracking number.
  5. Delete the message and block the sender.

If you shared details or paid

  • Contact your bank at once and tell them you may have been the victim of fraud.
  • Change any passwords you typed, and anywhere you reuse them.
  • Report the fraud to Report Fraud (reportfraud.police.uk).

A note on Evri’s own pages

Evri’s pages don’t all agree on the number for forwarding texts: one press release shows 7226, while the standard UK number is 7726, which Royal Mail’s help also gives. Use 7726, and check your mobile provider’s page if it doesn’t go through.

You can also paste the message into our free scam text checker. It runs on your message and doesn’t store it.
