Countersign

Terms

Last updated October 2026

These are the rules for using Countersign. We have kept them short and plain.

What Countersign is

A tool that helps families check that a request really comes from a family member, check suspicious messages, and practise spotting scam calls. It reduces risk. It cannot remove it. Always use your own judgement, and contact your bank or the police if you think you have been scammed.

Text messages

We send texts about your family’s checks and your account, never marketing. Message frequency varies and message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop, START to resume, HELP for help. Details are on our text messages page.

Plans and payment

Paid plans are billed monthly or yearly through Stripe, and renew until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from Plans; your family keeps the paid features until the end of the period. A free trial needs a card, and you are charged when it ends unless you cancel first. If a payment fails we give you seven days before paid features pause. Your family’s history is never deleted because of a payment problem.

Limits

Countersign is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses from scams, missed messages or outages, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the last twelve months. Nothing here limits rights you have by law.

Changes and ending

We will tell you about important changes before they take effect. You may stop using Countersign and delete your account at any time.

Countersign is operated by Placeholder, LLC, a Delaware company.
